چکیده
Abstract We report the discovery of a one magnitude increase in optical brightness 59.63 minutes orbital period AM CVn binary SDSS J113732.32+405458.3. Public g , r and i band data from Zwicky Transient Facility exhibit subsequent decline over 300 days period, while few points commissioning show that peak was likely seen. Such an outburst is due to change state accretion disk, making this longest reveal unstable disk. The object now back its previously observed (by PS-1) quiescent set by accreting white dwarf. Prior observations also imply recurrence times for such outbursts are more than 12 yr.

The outburst properties of AM CVn stars
We briefly summarize the observational properties of ultra-compact binaries called AM CVn stars. We analize their outbursts originating from the thermal-viscous instability in helium accretion disc. We present our preliminary results in applying the model of Dwarf Novae outbursts to helium discs. We can calculate models of outbursts of reasonable amplitude of 2 mag with a constant α parameter t...
متن کاملThe AM CVn binary SDSSJ173047.59+554518.5
The AM Canum Venaticorum (AM CVn) binaries are a rare group of hydrogendeficient, ultra-short period, mass-transferring white dwarf binaries, and are possible progenitors of type Ia supernovae. We present time-resolved spectroscopy of the recently-discovered AM CVn binary SDSS J173047.59+554518.5. The average spectrum shows strong double-peaked helium emission lines, as well as a variety of met...
متن کاملAM CVn stars
I review our observational and theoretical knowledge of AM CVn stars, focusing on recent developments. These include newly discovered systems, the possibility that two recently discovered extremely short period objects are AM CVn stars and an update on X-ray, UV an optical studies. Theoretical advances include the study of the details of both the donor and accretor, and the physics of the heliu...
متن کاملSdss J1240−01: a New Am Cvn Candidate from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
A better understanding of the AM CVn population is crucial to constrain their candidacy as SN Ia progenitors, to test binary evolution (in particular the common-envelope phase), and to predict their observable gravitational radiation signature. An AM CVndedicated search in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-DR1 resulted in the discovery of SDSS J124058.03−015919.2, a new AM CVn candidate previously i...
متن کاملSDSS J124058.03−015919.2: A new AM CVn star with a 37-minute orbital period
We present high time resolution VLT spectroscopy of SDSS J124058.03−015919.2, a new helium-transferring binary star identified in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We measure an orbital period of 37.355± 0.002 minutes, confirming the AM CVn nature of the system. From the velocity amplitudes of the accretor and the accretion stream– disc impact, we derive a mass ratio q = 0.039± 0.010. Our spectral ...
